ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday said no roads were blocked in Islamabad; clarifying that containers placed as a precautionary measure in compliance with the Islamabad High Court’s directions to protect citizens’ lives, property and lawful movement.

In a post on its official X handle, the ministry said the preventive security measures were aimed at protecting public infrastructure and sensitive installations, keeping in view the past violent practices of the party concerned.

The ministry said Al Jazeera had selectively portrayed the measures as “road blockades”, ignoring the fact that all roads remained open and the judicial and security context related to the state’s responsibility to maintain public order.

It said such reporting created a misleading and negative impression, adding that “the fallacy of lies and propaganda by Al Jazeera cannot substitute facts. Truth prevails over falsehood,” the ministry stated.
