KARACHI: PIA has announced plans to launch direct flight operations to the Maldives, following the induction of more aircraft into the fleet.
The announcement came during a meeting between PIA CEO Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat and a high-level Maldivian delegation, led by the Speaker of the Maldives National Assembly, Abdul Raheem Abdullah, at the PIA Head Office.
Briefing the delegation, the PIA CEO said the airline was actively working to expand its fleet, and that direct flights connecting Pakistan and the Maldives would be introduced as soon as the new aircraft became operational. He said the move was part of PIA’s broader strategy to strengthen its international network and improve air connectivity with key regional destinations. He further said that direct air links between the two countries would not only facilitate travel for tourists and business communities but would also serve the wider Pakistani diaspora, reflecting the airline’s continued commitment to connecting overseas Pakistanis through expanded flight operations.
