LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday reaffirmed her government’s commitment to ensuring safe, quality and timely healthcare for patients across the province on World Patient Safety Day.
In her message, the chief minister said patient safety was a fundamental requirement for quality healthcare and that protecting patients’ safety and rights remained a top priority of the provincial health system.
She said measures to improve patient safety were being strengthened alongside improvements in healthcare services, adding that comprehensive health reforms had been launched across the province.
The chief minister said field hospitals and Clinics on Wheels were providing medical treatment to millions of patients at their doorsteps. An air ambulance service had also been launched to evacuate emergency patients from remote and underdeveloped areas, she added.
She said work was under way to establish Pakistan’s first public-sector cancer hospital in Lahore.
The chief minister reiterated the government’s resolve to provide safe and quality healthcare facilities to patients across Punjab on the occasion of World Patient Safety Day.
