LAHORE: The National School of Public Policy (NSPP) has concluded a three-day Directors’ Training Programme (DTP) for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), aimed at strengthening corporate governance, board effectiveness, transparency and accountability in public-sector entities.
The fifth Directors’ Training Programme, organised by the Executive Development Institute (EDI), NSPP Lahore, from August 19 to 21, was approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and attended by 21 participants from federal and provincial governments and the private sector.
Participants represented various organisations, including SECP, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, Pakistan Airport Authority, NESPAK, PASSCO, WAPDA, Punjab Mineral Company, LDA, PKLI, Punjab Police and other public-sector institutions.
Rector NSPP Farhan Aziz Khawaja, while welcoming the participants, stressed the importance of transparency, accountability and effective corporate governance in improving the performance of SOEs.
Dean EDI Dr Naveed Elahi said the programme focused on legal responsibilities, board effectiveness, risk management, ethical governance and strategic decision-making through expert-led sessions, case studies and simulations.
Prominent speakers included former SBP Governor Tariq Bajwa, former SECP Commissioner Abdul Rehman Warraich, former PM adviser Dr Ishrat Hussain and other senior professionals and governance experts.
The training covered SOE reforms, corporate governance, board composition, financial risk management, audit and internal controls, public service obligations, business planning, cybersecurity, reporting and disclosure, and board simulations.
At the concluding session, Rector NSPP and Dean EDI distributed certificates among the participants and appreciated their active participation in the programme.
