KARACHI: The Consul Generals of Iran, Germany and Japan in Karachi have extended their warm greetings to the people of Pakistan on the occasion of the country’s 79th Independence Day, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
Iranian Consul General Akbar Eisaa Zadeh said Iran and Pakistan’s relations were rooted in shared history, culture, religion and people-to-people ties.
He noted that Iran was the first country to officially recognise Pakistan after its independence and highlighted the enduring cultural connection between the two countries, particularly through the poetry and thought of Allama Iqbal.
Eisaa Zadeh said Iran sought to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, economy, energy, border cooperation and cultural exchanges. He also called for stronger peaceful borders, increased bilateral trade and enhanced regional security.
German Consul General Thomas E. Schultze congratulated the Pakistani people and said the occasion was an opportunity to celebrate the country’s journey while recognising the resilience, ambition and diversity of its people.
He noted that Pakistan and Germany would mark 75 years of diplomatic relations on October 15, while economic ties dated back more than a century to 1922, when Siemens opened its first office in Lahore.
Schultze said the relationship was based on reliability, trust and sustainability, adding that Germany was Pakistan’s largest trading partner and the biggest importer of Pakistani goods within the European Union.
He also highlighted the role of Pakistani women in shaping the country’s future, saying women across Pakistan were leading, educating, building businesses and creating opportunities.
Japanese Consul General HATTORI Masaru also conveyed his heartfelt congratulations and warmest wishes to the people of Pakistan.
He said Japan and Pakistan had maintained a long-standing friendship based on mutual respect, trust and cooperation, with bilateral ties continuing to deepen across various fields.
Hattori expressed hope that the friendship between the two countries would grow stronger and bring their peoples closer, while praying for lasting peace, progress and prosperity for Pakistan.
