LAHORE: The government of Pakistan has taken a significant step toward empowering women entrepreneurs and microenterprises by forging a strategic institutional partnership aimed at promoting inclusive economic growth.
The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) and the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Lahore on Friday, establishing a framework to support micro and small enterprises, with a particular focus on women entrepreneurs, home-based workers, and artisans.
Addressing the ceremony, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan described the agreement as a strategic national intervention rather than merely an institutional collaboration.
He said the initiative aims to create opportunities for enterprises to become market-ready, financially viable, and globally competitive.
