ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Wednesday said that India has failed to present any credible evidence even one year after the Pahalgam incident, describing it as a “false flag operation” and questioning the credibility of New Delhi’s narrative.
In a detailed media interaction, Tarar said key questions surrounding the incident remain unanswered, adding that India has been unable to provide a satisfactory explanation despite growing scrutiny. He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had offered an independent and impartial investigation, but India did not respond, which he said further raises doubts.
Highlighting what he termed inconsistencies, the minister pointed out that an FIR was registered within minutes of the incident, despite the distance between the site and the police station, calling the timeline highly unusual and indicative of prior preparation.
He also criticized Indian media for “irresponsible and aggressive reporting,” alleging that unverified claims were broadcast almost immediately, creating a war-like environment. According to him, the coverage relied on a pre-constructed narrative rather than verified facts.
Tarar said India has a pattern of portraying internal security issues as external threats, while labelling internationally recognized disputes such as Jammu and Kashmir as internal matters, calling this a contradictory approach.
The minister further accused India of involvement in destabilizing activities inside Pakistan, referring to the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav and linking India to multiple incidents. He said Pakistan has shared what he described as “irrefutable evidence” with the international community.
Referring to regional tensions, Tarar warned that any “misadventure” would be met with a “prompt, effective and decisive response,” reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and continuing counterterrorism operations.
He added that Pakistan’s political and military leadership remain aligned in their resolve to eliminate terrorism and maintain stability, while positioning the country as a proponent of peace at the global level.
