ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is facing an uphill task to meet the ambitious tax collection target of Rs 1367 billion for the month of March 2026.
The revenue shortfall is expected to continue in March 2026.
The provisional figures would be compiled on March 31 -Tuesday (today).
According to an estimate, FBR might be facing a revenue shortfall within the range of Rs 150 billion to Rs 200 billion in achieving the assigned target of Rs 1367 billion for the outgoing month (March 2026). The FBR had made a collection of Rs 1116 billion during March of 2025, and it requires a growth of 21 percent to reach the collection of Rs 1367 billion in March 2026.

The FBR’s tax collection stood at Rs 8121.3 billion in the first eight months (July-Feb) period of the current fiscal year, sources added.
