PARTLY FACETIOUS: Pete Hegseth has taken the mainstream media to task
“Hey I reckon we are a source of inspiration to President Trump.”
“I am not sure, I would use the word inspiration – yes we had a First Daughter first, but then Trump’s tenure post-dated that of Nawaz Sharif.”
“And don’t forget Ivanka is a lot younger than……”
“Ooooo.”
“OK I am warned.”
“Good, anyway I wouldn’t call it inspiration I would call it inexorableness – you know the natural scheme of things.”
“Hmmm anyway Pete Hegseth has taken the mainstream media to task and suggested some appropriate headlines – like Desperate Iran….and non-compliance may lead to the withdrawal of their licence.”
“I don’t think our Minister for War has ever come up with such suggestions.”
“Who is our Minister for War?”
“Technically I suppose Khawaja Asif is the Minister for War and need I add he has been making some very harsh statements against members of our opposition in general and the Man Who Must Remain Nameless and Faceless in particular.”
“Be fair, he has been making harsh statements against our enemies – the Taliban.”
“Right sorry I forgot about that, but the de facto Minister of War is…”
“I know, the Deputy Prime Minister.”
“Nah not any more if he ever was, the Prime Minister has given him the task of monitoring the austerity package so he is out all day looking at how many government cars he can spot on the streets and how many…”
“Don’t be facetious anyway Hegseth’s anger was aimed at mainstream Western media which is not supportive of President Trump but is supportive of the Israeli narrative.”
“But President Trump has the solution already in motion: purchase of all those channels by pro-Israeli US oligarchs that currently criticize him.”
“Why don’t our politicians, who are very wealthy, do the same.”
“Well we have one who is supportive of the establishment, another who is supportive….”
“I get you, but one observation: mainstream media is no longer the source of information for the under 40s anywhere in the world.”
“True but are the over 40s aware of that!”
