Five terrorists killed in Lakki Marwat intelligence-based operation: ISPR

  • Weapons and ammunition recovered from deceased terrorists

Security forces killed five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Lakki Marwat district on Sunday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed in a statement.

The operation was launched following credible reports regarding the presence of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan terrorists, also known as Indian proxy Fitna al-Khawarij. During the engagement, Pakistani troops effectively targeted the terrorist hideout, resulting in an intense exchange of fire. Consequently, five terrorists were killed.

A cache of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased terrorists, who were reportedly involved in multiple terrorist activities and attacks within the region, the military’s media wing said.

A sanitisation operation is currently underway to ensure the elimination of any remaining terrorists in the vicinity. The ISPR reiterated that the relentless counter-terrorism campaign—conducted under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan—will continue at full pace.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to wiping out the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism, stating that Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies remain resolute in purging the country of such threats.

President, prime minister commend security forces

President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the security forces for neutralising five terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij during the IBO in Lakki Marwat.

The president stated that the terrorists, backed by India, are engaged in nefarious attempts to sabotage Pakistan’s peace.

He reaffirmed that the nation stands united with its brave security forces to completely eliminate terrorism occurring under external patronage.

In a separate statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the security forces for their successful action against the terrorists in Lakki Marwat district.

The prime minister highlighted that security forces are achieving major successes against terrorism under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam.”

He praised the killing of five terrorists during the operation, noting that the entire nation supports the Pakistan Armed Forces in this conflict.

“We are committed to the complete elimination of all forms of terrorism from the country,” the prime minister stated.
