ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has informed the Commonwealth Secretary-General that he will be unable to travel to London to attend the upcoming meetings of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) and the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting (CFAMM) due to the evolving regional situation in the wake of the US-Israel strikes on Iran. According to the Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson, Ishaq Dar held a detailed conversation with the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Shirley Botchwey. He has authorized Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London, Dr Muhammad Faisal, to represent the country on his behalf.

The Foreign Minister underscored Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to the Commonwealth and extended warm felicitations to the Secretary-General and the wider Commonwealth family on the occasion of Commonwealth Day, observed on March 9.

The 26th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM) takes place on March 8, 2026, in London, preceded by a Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) meeting on March 7, 2026. According to details, the discussions focused on navigating a challenging global landscape, while the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) is scheduled for November 2026 in Antigua and Barbuda.
