ISLAMABAD: Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Rashid Mahmood Langrial has categorically conveyed to the business community that tax evasion would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

However, a business-friendly environment remains one of the top priorities of the FBR, FBR Chairman added.

An 18-member delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), led by its President Sardar Tahir Mahmood called on Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Rashid Mahmood Langrial at the FBR Headquarters here to discuss key taxation issues faced by the business community.

During the meeting, the ICCI delegation apprised the Chairman FBR of various challenges confronting businesses in the capital, including issues related to super tax, tax refunds, and point-of-sale (POS) integration for small businesses, taxation of the real estate and property sector and other operational hardships.

Chairman FBR listened attentively to the concerns raised and assured the delegation that maximum facilitation would be extended to the business community.

He emphasised that genuine hardship cases would be given special consideration, while reiterating that the collection of taxes payable under the law would be ensured and tax evasion would not be tolerated under any circumstances. Member (Legal IR), Member (IR Operations) and Member (Customs Operations) of the FBR were also present during the meeting. They responded to the queries raised by the ICCI representatives and provided clarifications on relevant matters. While appreciating the vital role of the business community in the country’s economic growth and prosperity, Chairman FBR stated that establishing a business-friendly environment remains one of the top priorities of the FBR. He directed the concerned wings to examine the issues highlighted by the Islamabad business community and resolve their genuine concerns at the earliest.
