NA informed: AMI meter installation job to be completed by end-year
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed on Thursday that the nationwide installation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters is progressing and is expected to be completed by the end of this year to improve electricity monitoring and reduce power losses.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Power Division, Aamir Talal Khan, told the House during the Question Hour.
He said that load shedding is carried out on feeders with high losses.
He said the installation of Aerial Bundled Cables (ABC) and AMI meters will help address the issue of losses. He said a campaign is underway against individuals involved in power pilferage.

Responding to a calling attention notice regarding the emergence of new polio cases in the country, State Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed told the House that eradicating polio is not solely the responsibility of the Health Ministry but a shared duty of the entire parliament and every citizen.
He said that Pakistan and Afghanistan remain the only countries with confirmed polio cases, while the virus’s resurgence in some other nations is also a cause for concern.
