LAHORE: The Directorate of Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement (IPRE) Lahore collectively seized 43 consignments of counterfeit goods worth millions of rupees during the year 2025–26.
Briefing media representatives on Thursday, Director IPRE Lahore Azood-ul-Mehdi, along with Additional Director Aniqa Afzal, said that the counterfeit goods—banned for import—will be destroyed on International Customs Day, which will be observed on January 26, 2026.
He explained that the goods were collectively confiscated by all IPRE stations of the Lahore Directorate and other stations within its jurisdiction, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Multan.
The major seized items, bearing renowned brands, include counterfeit ladies’ handbags, men’s wallets, shoes/joggers, cosmetics, wrist watches and sunglasses, Azood-ul-Mehdi stated.
“On the eve of International Customs Day, these items will be destroyed to protect the intellectual property rights of international and national brands and to discourage the import of counterfeit goods,” he added.
Highlighting the overall role of IPRE, he noted that strong intellectual property rights enforcement facilitates international trade by promoting innovation, protecting investment, expanding the market reach of established brands, encouraging technology transfer, and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).
He added that Pakistan Customs has always championed the fight against elements that harm international trade or damage the reputation of global brands.
“Directorate of IPRE—a wing of Pakistan Customs—remains committed to upholding the spirit of the international customs fraternity by safeguarding innovation and entrepreneurship through seamless IPR enforcement at Pakistan’s economic frontiers,” the director concluded.
