Spot silver jumped above the key $90 an ounce level for the first time as soft US inflation data cemented interest rate cut bets by the US Federal Reserve on the back of geopolitical tensions, robust industrial and investment demand and tightening inventories.

Silver prices rose more than 3% to $90 per ounce by 0308 GMT.
