ISLAMABAD: In a major development aimed at resolving long-standing accommodation issues faced by lawmakers, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was informed on Tuesday that the construction of 104 additional Family Suites at the Parliament Lodges has reached its final stages.
The Speaker National Assembly visited the under construction Parliament Lodges to personally review the progress of the long-delayed project. Federal Minister of State for Interior, Senator Talal Chaudhry, accompanied him during the visit and provided a detailed briefing on the pace and status of the ongoing construction work.
During the inspection, the Speaker was apprised that the project, originally launched in 2011, had remained stalled for several years due to various administrative hurdles. It was revived after a prolonged delay through the special efforts and personal initiative of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who took a keen interest in ensuring its resumption and completion.Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker emphasized that the early completion of the project remains his top priority, noting that Members of Parliament are facing serious accommodation challenges that can only be addressed through the timely completion of these additional Family Suites. He directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to maintain high construction standards, ensure strict monitoring, and further accelerate the pace of work.
The Speaker made it clear that any further delay or negligence would not be tolerated, stressing the importance of completing the project within the stipulated timeframe to meet the growing needs of parliamentarians.
Senator Talal Chaudhry assured the Speaker that all available resources would be mobilized to ensure the project’s swift completion. He also lauded the Speaker’s consistent follow-up and personal commitment to the construction of the 104 Family Suites.
Acting Secretary National Assembly Saeed Ahmed Maitla, Adviser (Law) National Assembly Muhammad Mushtaq, and senior officials from the Ministry of Interior and the CDA were also present during the visit.
