COLOMBO: Sri Lankan shares rallied for the eighth straight session on Monday, led by broad-based gains, with the information technology sector being the only laggard.

The CSE All-Share index settled 0.66 percent higher at 23,014.75 points.

Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) and Myland Developments were the top two percentage gainers on the index, up 25 percent and 17.4 percent, respectively.

The island nation is aiming 3 million tourist arrivals in 2026 after a record 2.36 million last year, as the country seeks to boost revenue and support its recovery from Cyclone Ditwah.

Trading volume on the index slightly fell to 130.6 million shares from 133 million shares in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover rose to 5.77 billion Sri Lankan rupees (USD18.62 million) from 5.17 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
