KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister and Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to making Karachi the most developed and modern city of the country.
The Sindh government is working hard for the development of the city, he said adding that work is in progress in the areas of infrastructure, education, health, and other key sectors to transform Karachi into a modern, sustainable and inclusive city. A total of Rs 194 billion has been invested in improving the megacity’s road and traffic infrastructure.
He said that work is in progress on the Shahrah-e-Bhutto Corridor, the Malir River Bridge, and several underpasses and flyovers to improve traffic flow. These projects will reduce traffic congestion and make overall movement across the megacity faster.
He said that work on major development projects in Karachi will begin in March 2026, with quality and timely completion at all costs.
He said Rs 300 billion has been allocated for the expansion of nine district headquarters hospitals, and establishment of new medical colleges in Karachi and other major cities.
He also said that Rs155.34 billion have been allocated for the BRTs of Red, Yellow, and Orange Lines.
He said that the government wants the people of Karachi to feel tangible improvements in every sector. Every project is aimed at improving facilities and bringing prosperity to the lives of Karachi’s residents.
He said that the government’s strategy for Karachi includes sustainable infrastructure, quality education, improved healthcare facilities, modern mass transit, clean water, and safe housing.
