ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court accelerated the digitization of court records to promote procedural efficiency, institutional transparency, and technology-driven case management.

The press statement, issued by SC PRO, on Thursday, said that in pursuit of its Digital Reforms agenda aimed at facilitating litigants and strengthening justice sector efficiency, the SC introduced a comprehensive case categorization framework, and approved a mandatory standardized filing Template Form.

Three standardized lists for the categorization of Civil, Criminal, and Service Cases have been approved to ensure consistency in case filing, enabling systematic scrutiny at the institution stage, and supporting improved judicial administration and data-driven case management.

To further streamline filing procedures, a mandatory Template Form containing essential case particulars has also been approved. The Template Form shall be completed and submitted by the Advocate-on-Record (AOR) or Advocate Supreme Court (ASC) at the time of filing of every case before the Supreme Court. The information provided therein shall be scrutinized by the Institution Officer and verified by the Research Officer to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformity with the approved categorization framework.

The development of the case categorization system and the Template Form was undertaken through a consultative and participatory process in collaboration with the Committee of Advocates-on-Record. All AORs were invited to share their inputs, and following detailed deliberations, the finalized Template Form reflects the collective feedback and professional insight of the legal fraternity.

Additionally, digitization of court files at the Supreme Court of Pakistan is currently underway and is expected to be completed by 31 December 2025. In this regard, a digital certified copies portal has been launched on a pilot basis. Upon successful testing, the portal will enable litigants and advocates to obtain certified copies online from any location, significantly reducing delays and procedural barriers.

These initiatives mark a significant step toward a more accessible, efficient, and technology-enabled judicial system, aligned with modern standards of court administration and public service delivery.
