Increase in number of dengue patients reported in government hospitals across Sindh: DG Health
KARACHI: An increase in the number of dengue patients is being observed in all government hospitals across Sindh. Issuing his daily report Thursday, the Director General Health Sindh stated that new dengue cases have emerged in various hospitals throughout the province.
According to the report, 21 new patients were admitted to government hospitals across Sindh, while 25 additional patients were reported in private hospitals. This brings the total number of hospitalized dengue patients in the province to 48.
In the Karachi division, 15 new patients were admitted to government hospitals, while 2 new patients were admitted to government hospitals in Hyderabad. Twenty-five patients in government hospitals recovered and were discharged, while 20 patients recovered in private hospitals. However, one death due to dengue was reported in Hyderabad.
For dengue diagnosis, 1,984 individuals were tested in government and private laboratories, out of which 173 tests were positive. Karachi’s laboratories reported the highest number of positive cases, 117, while 56 positive cases were reported in Hyderabad’s laboratories.
The Director General Health Sindh has urged the public to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of dengue and to ensure that water does not accumulate around their homes. He added that Sindh Health Department teams are continuously monitoring all hospitals to ensure timely treatment for affected patients.
