LAHORE: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) took part in DataFest 2025, a two-day national event organised by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Representing Digital Punjab, PITB highlighted the province’s flagship digital initiatives and technological innovations driving e-Governance, Citizen Facilitation, and Business Empowerment, said PITB on Thursday.

On day one, PITB Director General (DG) e-Governance Sajid Latif, while on the second day, PITB Director General (DG) IT-Solutions Waqar Naeem Qureshi, along with representatives from the IT-Operations, IT-Solutions, e-Governance, and Admin Wings, showcased the organisation’s wide-ranging ICT interventions in the domains of digital governance, automation, citizen-centric services, entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and education.

On this occasion, Awais Manzur Sumra, Secretary Planning, Development and Special Initiatives (PD&SI)/Member Coordination, and Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) Managing Director Sahibzadi Wasimah Umer visited PITB’s stall. Throughout the event, PITB’s booth attracted a large number of dignitaries, policymakers, and technology enthusiasts, including delegations from the World Bank and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

In his message, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated, “Data is at the heart of effective governance and sustainable development. Through our digital initiatives, PITB is transforming how public services are delivered and decisions are made, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity across Punjab. Platforms like DataFest play a pivotal role in uniting stakeholders to harness data for national progress.”

It may be noted that DataFest 2025 brought together a diverse audience of tech leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to explore emerging trends in data utilisation. The event was held to build connections, boost economic growth, and accelerate the shift toward a data-driven Pakistan; it concluded after two days of insightful discussions and exhibitions.
