KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation as part of its major administrative reforms has created four new operational zones to modernize the city’s water and sewerage services. This is in pursuance of the directives of Mayor Karachi and Chairman of KW&SC Barrister Murtaza Wahab.

The re-organization aims to enhance efficiency, accelerate problem resolution, and ensure the delivery of reliable water and sanitation facilities across the city. A formal notification for the restructuring was issued by the corporation earlier this week.

Under the new framework, Zone One will cover districts Malir and Korangi, led by Chief Engineer Mohammad Ali Shaikh, with supporting superintending engineers assigned to Korangi, Shah Faisal, Model, Ibrahim Hyderi, and Gadap Towns.

Zone Two, encompassing the East and South districts, will be headed by Chief Engineer Aftab Alam Chandio, overseeing teams in Jinnah town, Gulshan town, Safora, Clifton, and Lyari, areas.

Zone Three, covering West and Keamari districts, will operate under Chief Engineer Ghulam Mohammad Hub.

Zone Four, responsible for Central district and Sohrab Goth Town, will be supervised by Chief Engineer Shah Rukh Hussain.

KW&SC Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddiqui and Chief Operating Officer Engineer Asadullah Khan described the move as a step towards “strengthening operational capacity and ensuring faster, more responsive service delivery.”

The restructuring is designed to improve coordination among field teams, streamline water distribution and sewerage maintenance, and promptly address public complaints.

“This initiative reflects Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab’s vision of providing citizens with better facilities and a higher standard of public service. With an efficient administrative framework, the Water Corporation is better positioned to meet Karachi’s growing urban needs.
