  • Becomes the fifth Pakistani to achieve this milestone
Published Updated

Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam added another major milestone to his career on Saturday, becoming the fifth Pakistani cricketer to score 15,000 runs in international cricket.

Babar reached the landmark during the third and final ODI against South Africa at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. The 31-year-old achieved the feat when he took a single off Bjorn Fortuin to move to 23, completing 15,000 runs in his 370th international innings.

With this achievement, Babar joins an elite list of Pakistan’s highest run-scorers, which includes Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf and Javed Miandad.

  2. Younis Khan – 17,790 runs (491 innings)

  3. Mohammad Yousuf – 17,134 runs (426 innings)

  4. Javed Miandad – 16,213 runs (407 innings)

  5. Babar Azam – 15,004 runs (370 innings)

6–10 (next most): Saeed Anwar, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Misbah-ul-Haq, Saleem Malik (based on historical tallies)

Babar, however, could not convert his start into a big knock and was run out for 27 off 32 balls, hitting five fours.

Across formats, the former Pakistan captain has now scored more than 4,366 runs in Tests, 4,302 in T20Is and over 6,330 in ODIs. His international career includes 31 centuries and 104 half-centuries.

Babar’s consistency and high-class performances over the years have cemented his place among the world’s top modern batters.
