Plea dismissed against appointment of DG Passport

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday dismissed a petition against the appointment of DG Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi for being not maintainable.

The petitioner, Asif Khechi, contended that the appointment of the respondent was made against the service rules. He asked the court to declare the appointment in question as illegal and without lawful authority. A law officer also contended that the appointment of the DG Passport was made under the service rules.

He also said this appointment was made under the law as Prime Minister could appoint and transfers the official. The court after hearing the arguments at length dismissed the petition.
