DC Rawalpindi uplift schemes: Commissioner orders probe into tendering process

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Amir Khattak has ordered an inquiry to ensure transparency and procedural fairness in the tendering process of several development schemes initiated by the District Council Rawalpindi, with a total estimated cost of Rs591 million.

According to an official notification issued by the Commissioner’s Office, a three-member committee has been formed to examine the tendering and evaluation process and to investigate any irregularities in the tendering process causing delays.

The Director General Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) will head the committee, while the Director Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Rawalpindi will serve as secretary, and the Assistant Director (Planning) will act as member.

“The committee shall examine the tendering process, identify any procedural shortcomings or causes of delay, and propose recommendations to ensure transparency and efficiency in future procurement”, the notification stated.

The committee has been directed to submit its findings within three days.

The District Council had floated tenders under the single-stage, two-envelope bidding procedure for various uplift schemes, including the Beautification of Murree Mall Road, Uplift of Market New Murree and Rehabilitation of Library Road Kahutta.
