ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Monday warned that the River Sutlej, which is currently flowing at a high flood level at Ganda Singh Wala, is likely to rise to a very high flood level due to water releases from India, and advised authorities to take immediate precautionary measures.

The NDMA also stated that intermittent heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to cause urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Gujrat over the next 48 hours.

It further warned that the Rivers Ravi and Chenab are also likely to reach high to very high flood levels within the same period. All relevant departments have been directed to take necessary action to mitigate potential damage.

According to the NDMA, following one additional rain-related death and five injuries, the nationwide death toll has reached 799, with 1,080 injuries reported. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remains the most severely affected province, with 479 deaths and 347 injuries.
