KARACHI: HBL and Sindh Enterprise Development Fund (SEDF) signed a MoU on Wednesday to provide subsidized loans to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Sindh.

Under this agreement, HBL and SEDF will work together to design and implement a comprehensive financial infrastructure that will provide both secured and unsecured subsidized loans to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the province.

On this occasion, the chief guest of the event and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Investment and Public-Private Partnership, Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, while welcoming the agreement between HBL and SEDF for the development of small and medium enterprises in the province, said,

“This agreement will enable sustainable business growth, job creation and economic development across the province.”

He said that this partnership is an excellent step to enhance the true potential of the SME sector of Sindh and we firmly believe that such strategic cooperation will not only promote small and medium enterprises but also enable the economic development of the province and it will also create employment opportunities based on self-reliance.

The SACM said that the Sindh government is committed to providing all possible support to the banking sector for the sustainable development of small and medium enterprises in the province.

In his address at the event, President and CEO, HBL Muhammad Nasir Saleem said, “HBL is committed to promoting small and medium enterprises and we are fully committed to providing financial inclusion and our collaboration with SEDF in this regard will create new avenues of financial inclusion that will strengthen the Small Medium Enterprise ecosystem in Sindh.”

Speaking at the event, SEDF Chief Executive Officer Khizar Pervez said, “This agreement with HBL is a significant step towards facilitating access to capital for Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Sindh, which will definitely help in accelerating inclusive economic growth.”
