KARACHI: The foreign portfolio investors are back as after many years, Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has seen net buying of $14.891 million in the month of July 2023 so far.

According to current data of National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL), net inflow of foreign investors’ portfolio investment has increased to $17.388 million during the current calendar year from January 01, 203 to date.

“The Foreign Portfolio Investment at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has increased after the IMF deal, and Pakistan’s timely compliance of IMF conditions”, Muhammad Sohail, leading analyst and CEO of Topline Securities said. “Whether it will sustain or not depends on many factors, including upcoming elections, compliance with IMF conditions, PKR trend, etc.,” he added.

Currently, portfolio investment in Pakistan equities is at one of the lowest levels. With an average of 7.0 percent of market-cap and high of 10 percent, portfolio investment is only 4.0 percent now to a record low.
