South Korean mills buy wheat from US, Canada

HAMBURG: A group of South Korean flour mills bought an estimated 77,900 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States and 27,900 tonnes of wheat from Canada in a tender, European traders said on Wednesday.

A range of different wheat types were bought by the mills for shipment in January and February 2021, they said.

The US purchase involved a consignment bought from trading house CHS with prices free on board (FOB) from the US Pacific Northwest coast for Jan. 1-31 shipment, traders said.

CHS’ sale involved 23,250 tonnes of soft white wheat of a maximum 10.5% protein bought at an estimated $249.20 a tonne FOB, 2,080 tonnes of soft white of 8.5% protein at $254.70 FOB, 13,820 tonnes of hard red winter of a minimum 11.5% protein bought at $293.90 a tonne fob and 10,850 tonnes of northern spring wheat of 14% minimum protein bought at $276 a tonne fob.—Reuters
