ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday reiterated his confidence in the role of Usman Buzdar as Punjab Chief Minister. The prime minister was addressing the students of Essa Khel Cadet College after inauguration of a development project.
The PM said his goal was to solve the people's basic problems because as a member of the National Assembly, he used to get complaints about issues of water, police highhandedness on the behest of influential, and non-availability of teachers in girls' schools.
Khan said people have been asking him the question why Usman Buzdar was made chief Minister of Punjab, adding that unless one does not have the understanding of the problems of rural areas, these could not be solved. Those living in big houses and getting treatment from London cannot appreciate the gravity of problems of rural people.
"When people were stating how a player would do politics, people of Mianwali were standing with me," the PM said. He said a person hailing from a backward area could well realize the needs and pains of the underdeveloped areas instead of those who lived in palaces at Lahore.
"Those living in palaces in Lahore and getting their medical checkup in London, when become chief minister, cannot feel how the people (of backward areas) live," he remarked.
He said likewise Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Rajanpur and Taunsa were also backward with similar dearth of education, water supply and healthcare facilities.
