KARACHI: The Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Yaseen Azad, said on Saturday that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law should be abolished as it was the law of the era of dictatorship.
Hearing in cases of NAB cannot be conducted on a daily basis, he said while speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Registry of the Supreme Court here.
He said that the cases of missing persons should be heard on a daily basis.
Speaking about the reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Azad said that the lawyers would take to the streets "if Justice Isa is removed forcibly".
He also demanded of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) to take action against the federal law minister and his licence should be suspended over reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
Azad said he favoured accountability in the country, but it should not be partial, and law should treat everyone equally.
Munir Ahmed Malik, president of the Karachi Bar Association (KBA), said that the Bundal and Buddu Islands were owned by the Sindh government, and that if any development work was required to be done on those islands, it should be done by the Sindh government.
