Unregistered RO plants

Published October 20, 2020 Updated October 20, 2020 02:47am

We all know that Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification process. In other words, commercial RO plants are supposed to remove all impurities from water. The Sindh High Court has asked the Sindh government authorities to file a compliance report regarding action being taken against unregistered RO plants. It is an open secret that a very large number of so-called RO filtration plants have been operating in Karachi under grim unhygienic conditions, causing threats to the lives of people who consume water supplied through these "RO" plants. The relevant authorities, however, are wilfully ignoring the existence of these plants for whatever reasons. The relevant authorities are therefore required to take action against all those plants that have failed to follow the required health instructions/guidelines in letter and spirit.
