ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court hearing multi-billion rupees fake bank accounts case, on Friday, recorded the statement of a prosecution witness in Pink Residency reference against Omni Group's Abdul Ghani Majeed, Khawaja Anwar Majeed, and others.

Zainul Abideen, an officer of the Revenue Department of Sindh, recorded his statement before the AC Judge, Muhammad Azam Khan, in Pink Residency case. The reference pertains to a project, "Pink Residency" in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.

The accused had allegedly been involvement in illegal regularisation of two plots in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. One of the plots measured 23 acres of land, while the other was seven acres.

The anti-graft body has alleged that financial transactions related to the illegally-regularised plots were conducted through fake bank accounts. The NAB estimates that the illegal land regularisation and consequent sale caused a loss of Rs 4 billion to the national exchequer.

The prosecution witness, while testifying before the court, confirmed the provision of revenue record to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)'s investigation officer (IO).

He said that the revenue record was in Sindhi language but the report was prepared in Urdu. The documents provided by the witness were made part of the court record.

The defence counsel will cross examine the prosecution witness during the next hearing to be held on October 20. The same court on October 8, indicted Abdul Ghani Majeed, Khawaja Anwar Majeed, Aftab Memon, Abdul Jabbar Memon, Muhammad Shabbir, and other accused in the same case.
