Karachi to receive rain today, tomorrow

  • This will be the fifth rain spell in Sindh.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that Karachi will have thunderstorms and heavy rain from today till Saturday.

According to PMD, there is a low air pressure system moving towards the west from Rajasthan, India. The department continued that apart from Karachi, rain is also expected in Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar and Thatta.

The rain will continue till Sunday, the PMD said, adding that temperatures will likely rise to 33 to 36 degrees Centigrade on the weekend. This will be the fifth rain spell in Sindh.

Meanwhile, several people in Punjab have died in rain-related accidents. During the rain, the roof of an old house collapsed in Ibrahim Colony located in Lahore, killing four members of a family and injuring five others.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed departments to remain vigilant in during the heavy rains for quick relief and rescue operation.
