India's RAW behind grenade attacks in Karachi, Interior Sindh: Security officials

  • Officials say they tracked similar hand grenades and RGD1 explosives that were used in the attacks confirming RAW's support
Published Updated

(Karachi) Security officials, after a thorough probe, transpired that Indian intelligence agency, RAW, is behind multiple hand grenade attacks in the city and Interior Sindh, media reported on Wednesday.

Investigation officials probing the matter said multiple attacks were carried out in Sindh especially in Karachi where unidentified men hurled RGD1 hand grenades to cause panic and casualties.

Officials maintained they tracked similar hand grenades and RGD1 explosives that were used in the attacks. They said evidence and probe confirm RAW's support behind the attacks.

Earlier, grenade attacks were carried out in Karachi, Ghotki and Larkana. Four people, including two Rangers personnel, lost their lives and 10 others were injured in the attacks.

Two Rangers’ personnel and one passerby were killed and another Rangers man and a civilian were injured in an explosion near a vehicle of the paramilitary force in the Ghota market area on railway station road in Ghotki.

In Larkana, assailants riding a motorcycle threw a cracker inside the Rangers Public School. It went off but could not cause any damage to life or property since the school was closed.

In Karachi, a young civilian was killed while a Rangers sepoy was among eight injured in a grenade attack at an office of the Ehsaas programme in Liaquatabad.

Similarly, a man was killed while 40 were injured when unidentified assailants hurled hand grenade at Jamat-i-Islami's Kashmir rally in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.
