KARACHI: Five ships, MSC Albany, Express Kailash, Union Explorar, Glorious and Ejnan carrying Containers, Coal, Diesel Oil and LNG were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Port Qasim Electric Power Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile four more ships, MSC Al-Ghero, Sky Ploeg, Hony Future and Quetta carrying Containers, Phosphoric Acid, Coal and Furnace Oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was observed at the port at 59% on Monday where a total of ten ships namely, MSC Albany, Express Kailash, Da Liang, Le Cong, Young Harmony, Union Explorar, Daphne, Ejnan, Lumphini Park and Glorious are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, General Cargo, Coal, Canola Seeds, LNG, Palm Oil and Diesel Oil.
Cargo handling remained up trend at the port on Monday where a cargo volume of 191,103 tonnes, comprising 153,778 tonnes import cargo and 37,325 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,507 Containers (TEUs), (1,969 TEUs imports and 1,538 TEUs exports) was handled at the port.
Two ships, Lumphini Park and Le Cong sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships Express Kailash, MSC Albany and Young Harmony are expected to sail on same day in the afternoon.
A total of five ships, MSC Al-Ghero, Hony Future, Chemroad Mega, Sky Ploeg and Kobe Star carrying Containers, Coal, Palm Oil Phosphoric Acid and Steel Coil are expected to take berths at QICT, PIBT, LCT, EVTL and MW-1 respectively on Tuesday.
