The Diamer-Bhasha Dam would be the best project to strengthen the economy of the country as the dam will have the capacity to store 6.4 million square feet water. An official of Water and Power told APP on Sunday that agriculture sector would get benefit from this big water reservoir project and a sufficient quantity of water could also be stored through the construction of this dam in the country.
He said the Dam would be helpful for agricultural sector and would ensure food and water security, besides increasing cultivable lands.
To a question, he said the project would also extend the life of Tarbela Dam, located downstream, by 35 years and would help control flood damages in the country. He said the construction of Diamer-Bhasha dam, the third largest water reservoir in the country, would help resolve energy crisis.
He said the launching work on Diamer-Bhasha Dam is a milestone in the development of energy sector in the country.
