Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Friday urged the USAID to undertake transformational projects like Tarbela and Mangla dams. She was talking with USAID Administrator Dr Rajiv Shah who called on her here along with a US delegation. According to a press release, both sides discussed matters relating to bilateral relations, especially economic co-operation, between the two countries.
The press release quoted the foreign minister as saying that Pakistan wanted to have a mutually beneficial relationship with the US. The Parliamentary process had established a public ownership of this relationship, ushering in a new era of transparency and predictability, it added. Khar also reiterated that Pakistan wanted preferential access to the US market as it would help provide new opportunities for Pakistani businesses.
Dr Rajiv Shah stated that the US respected the parliamentary process and that it would continue to build its multifaceted relationship with Pakistan. He assured that the USAID would remain engaged in developing priority sectors of energy, health, agriculture and education.-PR
