KMC officials told to complete development projects on time

The ongoing work on various projects in District East, including the construction and repairs of roads, would be completed by the end of the current financial year, KMC's Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said on Tuesday He was presiding over a meeting to review various aspects, including the pace of work on 10 development projects undertaken by the KMC, quality and timely provision of funds.
The metropolis' administrator said that the construction of the Mausamiyat Road, the Korangi Causeway and the Shahra-e-Quaideen were important projects, adding that their timely completion would facilitate the smooth flow of traffic on these main thoroughfares.
The meeting was informed that 80 per cent work on the Mausamyat Road had been completed while the remaining work was speedily under way. The first phase of the four-and-a-half-kilometre-long portion of the Mausamyat Road was completed with a cost of Rs 167million. The construction of the Korangi Causeway, Korangi Crossing and other roads in Landhi and Korangi areas was still under way. Work on making the Korangi Causeway a two-track road will complete by next month at a cost of Rs 8.7million.
The width of the Qayyumabad-Korangi Road had been increased by 16 feet-wide and 60 per cent rehabilitation work on the Shahra-e-Altaf and adjoining storm water drain had also been completed. The remaining 40 per cent work on this road would be finished, providing major convenience to residents of Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Korangi Creek and adjoining areas.
The administrator was informed that 20 per cent work on another project had been completed. In the first phase, the road between the Noorani Kabab Chowrangi and Khudad Colony was being constructed and widened by covering the central drain. The reconstruction of this road would cost Rs 315million. The administrator said that the construction and repairs of roads under the MPA programme was also under way in the city.
He directed the engineers to accelerate the pace of work on these projects so that they could be completed in the current financial year. Director-General of Technical Services Altaf G. Memon, Senior Director Transport & Communication Ateeq Baig and Chief Engineer, East, Mehmood Hussain Baloch also attended the meeting.
