Tribal students seek repeal of FCR

Tribal Students from different education institutions demanded of the government for repealing of draconian Frontier Crime Regulation (FCR) law in the FATA and called for brining further reforms for mainstreaming the tribal society. They expressed anguish over not properly implementation of amended FCR, saying that all the basic human rights are being violated in presence of the black law in tribal region.
They expressed these views while speaking at FATA Students Federation Foundation Day held here at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday. Notably speakers were included FSF Central President, Haroon Luqman Afridi, Taj Mehal Afridi Advocate, Shakeel Waheedullah, Khalid Ayub, Shahab Khattak Advocate, tribal elders and a large number of students. The speakers linked the FATA peace with withdrawal of US-led troops from region, saying that the turbulent situation had got worst after increasing US drone attacks on tribal region. They said that peace couldn't be possible in presence of Nato forces in Afghanistan.
The participants said that the tribal people mercilessly persecuted under the draconian law. They stressed the need for repealing the FCR to mitigate the suffering of tribal people. The ongoing military operation immensely disturbed the routine life, destroyed education institutions, shattered business activities, they mentioned.
They also expressed grave concern over non-provision of basic facilities to internally displaced people at their makeshift camp. They urged the government to provide adequate food supply and other livelihood to them. The participants demanded of the Federal government for repealing of FCR and called for provision of education facilities in educational institutions of settle areas. They asked the all tribal students unions and associations to get unite for mutual cause.
