Transporters affiliated with different unions and associations have stick to their plan to observe complete wheel-jam strike on Tuesday across the country against the hike in rates of CNG and petroleum products.
While talking to newsmen here on Monday, All Sarhad Goods and Adda Owner Federation's Vice President Haji Ashraf Khalil said all goods transport would remain off the roads as per decision of supreme council to observe complete strike, adding the Urban Transport Union also backed the strike call and join it.
Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association Provincial President Nasir Ali Khan while speaking to reporters at Peshawar Press Club on Monday said Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had refused to accept demands of the transporters and that was why they had the only option to observe wheel-jam strike for an indefinite period. "We will also stop oil supply to all the airports, Federally Administered Tribal Area and the transporters will never compromise on principles," he vowed. Besides, he said the government was reluctant to increase the transportation charges and in the prevailing situation they could not afford the expenses due to the raise in rates of petroleum products.
