President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday directed the authorities concerned to utilise all available resources to quickly rescue the soldiers and civilians who got trapped under an avalanche which hit the Siachen area on Saturday. He is learnt to have contacted the General Headquarters, the chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan and Major General Ikramul Haq, the FCNA GOC, to get latest information about the ongoing rescue operation.
He urged the authorities to work relentlessly for the survival of the avalanche-hit people. Praying for the survival of all soldiers and civilians, the president said the entire nation stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the Pakistan Army. He instructed Gilgit-Baltistan and federal governments to provide adequate resources for the rescue operation.
