THE RUPEE: dollar stays put

Published Updated

Steady trend was seen on the currency market on Saturday as the rupee held the overnight levels versus the greenback, dealers said. The rupee managed to hold the overnight levels versus dollar for buying and selling at 91.00 and 91.20, they added. The rupee shed 10 paisa in relation to euro for buying and selling at Rs 118.70 and Rs 119.70.
OPEN MARKET RATES: According to the Reuters the US dollar fell against euro and yen on Friday after lower-than-expected US jobs figures bolstered views the Federal Reserve could yet ease policy further to boost the economy, though thin holiday trading exacerbated currency moves. The dollar reversed early gains against euro after data showed US non-farm payrolls rose by 120,000 in March, far lower than the 203,000 expected in a Reuters survey.
