Following are selected highlights from a report issued by a US Department of Agriculture attache in Colombia. "US corn has dramatically lost market share in Colombia. In 2008, US corn supplied 80 percent of Colombia's corn demand. In 2011, the share declined sharply to 21 percent. US corn exports to Colombia declined from 2.9 million tonnes in 2008 to 551,000 tonnes in 2011, down 2.4 million tonnes.
Colombia's rice production is expected to rebound in MY 2012/13 after a year of poor yields. Although Canada's FTA with Colombia entered into force in October 2011."
