Punjab government urged to take action against agriculture department employees
Agri Forum Pakistan, Chairman, Muhammad Ibrahim Mughal, alleged on Saturday that employees of the provincial agriculture department are not serving the growers rather they are focused on their personal business. Mughal said that even the new provincial secretary agriculture had failed to mend the aggravated situation of the department and the Punjab government should take immediate notice of it.
In a statement issued here he claimed that 35 percent employees of the Punjab Agriculture Department were involved in business of fertiliser, 40 per cent in pesticide business and 15 per cent were involved in business of other agri inputs. While five per cent of the rest 10 per cent never go to field making excuse of not getting any vehicle, diesel or travelling and daily allowance.
In a way, all employees were drawing salaries from the government but they are carrying out their personal businesses. Agri Forum Chairman further alleged that some of the employees were also shareholder in the business of substandard fertiliser, pesticides and other agricultural inputs.
