The industrial associations have sent a SOS to the Governor and Chief Minister of Sindh and ask to immediately restore water supply to the industrial zones as the industries are starving due to abrupt suspension of water supply by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).
Following an urgent meeting and a joint press statement issued by the Chairmen of all the seven town associations including Chairman Korangi Association of Trade and Industry Ehtesham Uddin, Irfan Moton of SITE Association of Industries, Chairman North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry A Rasheed Fodderwala, Chairman F B Area Association Masroor Alvi, Chairman Port Qasim Association Usman Ahmed, Chairman Landhi Association Zain Bashir and Chairman SITE Superhighway, Mehtab Chawla besides Johar Ali Qandhari and President All Karachi Industrial Alliance Mian Zahid Hussain said that crisis after crisis the industries of Karachi are feared to be totally collapse and massive unemployment would become uncontrollable by the government.
They said that after energy crisis the water scarcity in metropolis would prove to be the last nail in the coffin of industrial sector in the commercial and industrial hub of Pakistan. "Many industries have already shut down due to energy crisis and extortion, Bhatta Mafia and now suspension of water supply has given a death signal to the remaining industries", the statement said. They appealed the high ups in Sindh government and in Islamabad to intervene and restored immediately water supply so that industry should not call it a day.-PR
