Pakistan and the UAE enjoy deep-rooted relations that will further strengthen with co-operation between their Naval forces, said Pakistan's Ambassador to UAE, Jamil Ahmed Khan. He made the remarks during his visit to Pakistan Naval Ships Madadgar and Shujaat, currently on a good will visit to the UAE.
The ships are part of the Pakistan Navy Task Group (PNTG) that is visiting friendly countries in the Gulf. Ambassador Jamil Ahmed Khan was received by Commander Pakistan Navy Task Group (PNTG) along with Commanding Officers of PN ships accompanied by Pakistan Defence Attache. He was presented guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy.
The Ambassador was briefed about the operational capabilities of PNS Madadgar and Shujaat. PNS Madadgar was built in Pakistan and was inducted in 2009, while PNS Shujaat also indigenously built ship was inducted in Pakistan Navy in 1999. Since commissioning, the ships have been rendering extraordinary support services to Pakistan Navy. The two naval ships have been utilised in various military, constabulary and benign roles and are highly suitable to perform counter terrorism task in coastal areas.
PNS Shujaat has successfully participated in various national and international exercises within and outside national waters like Aman, Naseem-ul-Bahr & Thamar al Tayyab. Ambassador Khan was also briefed about the visits of various operational and training institutes of UAE by PNTG Commander and conduct of joint naval exercise between the naval ships of Pakistan and the UAE.
Ambassador Khan while addressing the naval officers stated that joint naval exercise between Pakistan and the UAE during their current voyage was yet another manifestation of military co-operation between the two countries. The Ambassador extended gratitude to the UAE government for its support in conducting joint naval exercise. He said some countries have shown interest in indigenously built ships which Pakistan was considering to fabricate and sell to interested countries.
