Exhibition of social causes

Published Updated

Markaz-e-Umeed, institution for special needs children organised and launched the first-ever awareness exhibition of social causes at Expo Centre on 23rd March 2012.
The event's aim was to showcase and highlight social activism in Pakistan through the participation of NGOs, foundations, companies and institutions to present and promote their individual mission, services, achievements and future outlook for the development of various communities within Pakistan and hence enhance its image as a progressing nation of the world.
Top exhibitors at the event were The Citizens Foundation, Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, Children's Cancer Hospital, Naya Jeevan, Fatimid Foundation, Dar-ul-Sukun, Saylani Welfare Trust, Rett's Syndrome Pakistan, SIUT, Abbott Pakistan Ltd, Karachi University, GreenStar, Shirkatgah, Markaz-e-Umeed and Aurat Foundation.
Also in commemoration of Pakistan Resolution Day, a special activity was organised during Social Expo 2012. This activity was launched late evening as a special effort to enable special needs children to express their strong sense of patriotism, share the spirit of being Pakistani with normal children and families and enjoy the merriment and experience to full extent. A considerable turnover comprising general public, representatives from corporate sector, government ministries and professionals from relevant backgrounds visited and participated in the show.
Social work is strongly linked with Pakistan's history. Many social welfare and service-providing organisations are doing substantial work in alleviating problems and hurdles in the development of less-privileged communities and the event has been a first opportunity of its kind coming to organisations at the right time.
