The spokesman of the Punjab government Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Saturday distributed laptops among the students of Allama Iqbal Medical College.
Senator Rashid said that the detractors of the Punjab government were opposing distribution of laptops, adding that in a democratic society, political opponents provide guidance to the government through their criticism and it would have been much better if the rivals of PML-N had demanded that instead of 100,000, one million laptops should have been given to the students.
Similarly, they should have asked why only students were being given guard of honour and those dedicated persons who are serving in different sectors including police, who risk their lives in the protection of life and property of citizens. WAPDA employees who climb on the electricity poles to provide uninterrupted power to citizens are being ignored. However, he said, it is lamentable that opponents of the present government are indulging in negative criticism.
Senator Rashid said that progress, stability and educational revolution in the country could be brought about only through education and distribution of laptops among students will open up new avenues of progress and development. PML-N senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafique while addressing the function said that students should not be misled by catchy slogans and false promises. He said that youth of the country are enlightened and are ready to play their role for steering the country out of crisis.
Earlier, Principal of the College Professor Javed Akram said that IT Students Society has been set up in the college and e-scholar will be announced every year while gold medal and cash prize of Rs 100,000 will be given to the youth. He also announced launching of Microsoft courses at Allama Iqbal Medical College. Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Secretary Health Punjab Captain Arif Nadeem (Retd), Dr Ajmal Niazi, public representative faculty members, male and female students and their parents attended the ceremony.
