SHC issues notices to DC, HMC officials for alleged encroachment on graveyard case

HYDERABAD: In a matter of alleged encroachment on a graveyard in Latifabad taluka of Hyderabad, the Sindh High Court has issued notices to the respondents here Friday.
The Hyderabad Circuit Bench of justice Khadim Hussain M Shaikh and justice Mehmood A Khan summoned the officials along with the relevant record for February 13 hearing.
The officials include Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Saleem Rajput, Municipal Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC), Assistant Commissioner Latifabad and In Charge Anti Encroachment Cell.
A petition over the issue was filed by one Liaquat Ali Malak in 2013. During the hearing the bench received the inspection report submitted by Additional Registrar of SHC Syed Sabit Ali Shah, who was assigned to inspect the site.
In the report the registrar stated that the land of the graveyard had come under encroachment as reflected in an earlier inspection report of February 19, 2014.
The Additional Advocate General Allah Bachayo Soomro upon inquiry by the bench admitted that so far no action had been taken to remove the encroachment in the light of the February, 2014, report.
